Be
Active!
So what have
you been doing with yourself, sitting around eating chips and
watching the tube or just surfing the net? Whatever the case may
be, there is no better time than the present to get up and go!
Some people
are more sedentary than others they enjoy vegging. They do as
little as possible. Some people even claim that this is an
incurable personality trait, a disease of the will. I say you can
change anything you want to change. As for being active I would go
as far as saying even if you don’t want to be active-do it
anyway. You will feel better. You will look better. And you will
be better. If you have been sitting on your duff for so long you
don’t know where to begin, begin now. All you need is 20 minutes
a day.
Pick an
activity that you enjoy doing, or at least can learn to enjoy. Try
walking or riding your bike instead of getting a ride. Join a team
sport at school. Start after school fitness classes like aerobics,
yoga, martial arts, or dance. Once you start keep a fitness
journal, it will help you keep track of your progress and it will
help motivate you.
At first it
will be drudgery and you may think that you don’t have time to
waste working out. There are some early risers who get up before
school or work and go to the gym or take a morning walk. Morning
People! Exercising right after school or work makes it easier to
do when you are getting started on a new exercise routine. It also helps to relieve the tension and stresses of the day.
Like
everything exercising takes commitment. Commit to a better you.
Don’t do it because someone told you to, do it because you want
to look and feel better.
